12 celebrity tattoos you need to see

Dua Lipa has over 15 tattoos including a tribute to her home in Kosovo, her sibling's initials, and a small star on her foot that she got with late night show host Seth Meyers on a drunk night out. But our personal favourite has to be Lipa's rose tattoo in a cyber-sigilism style that was done by French tattoo artist Madame Buraka in Paris in 2018.

Billie Eilish has several tattoos, but they're all very meaningful to her. She has a trio of fairies on her hand that she calls her guardian angels, which were inspired by illustrations from her favourite childhood book 'Fairyopolis'. She has her middle name, Eilish, tattooed on her chest, and the word 'soft' on her hip, where no one can see them. But it's her mysterious, oil spill-inspired back piece by LA-based artist Matias Milan that's the most impressive.

Ariana Grande has over 50 tattoos, however most of them are relatively tiny. But her four most recent tattoos are all (somewhat unsurprisingly) Wicked related. Grande and her co-star Cynthia Erivo both share a matching poppy tattoo in black ink, the phrase 'For Good', and heart tattoos with the each other's initials written in the middle, which the pair got in 2023 during filming. She also has an illustration of Glinda from the original "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" book by L. Frank Baum, which was published in 1900, on the back of her hand.

Doja Cat actually only started getting tattoos in 2023 at the age of 27. But considering they're symbolic of a deeply transformational time in the singer's career and personal life, it's not surprising she got a flood of them in such a small time frame. All of her tattoos use occultist symbolism, folk tales, and legends to speak to spiritual lessons she's learned in her life. Several of her arm tattoos were designed by Swedish tattoo artist Oscar Akermo, including a bat, a key, and the excerpt from The Brothers Grimm's 'Hansel and Gretel': "So, children, please, beware of gifts. Beware of those that offer them. And beware of those who are only too happy to take them."

While most celebrities opt for tiny tattoos, Cardi B isn't afraid of bold colours and large pieces. She has several names all over her body — her exes names, the names of her children and her sister, and her nickname. But her most impressive tattoos have to be the menagerie of animals decorating various appendages. She has a butterfly neck tattoo, a peacock on her thigh, and a cheetah on her hip.

Millie Bobby Brown is the proud owner of a small collection of delicate, fine line tattoos. She sports a cowboy hat on her arm, a rose on her rib cage, a heart on her collarbone, and a butterfly on her hip. But her most meaningful tattoos appear to be her late grandmother's name Ruth on her ribs, as well as '011' on her wrist in honour of her Stranger Things character.

Jade Thirlwall's tattoos are representative of meaningful relationships in her life. She has the date she and her Little Mix band mates were first put in a group together on X-Factor tattooed on her leg, and Thirlwall and her besties all share a heart tattoo. The singer also has the Arabic word for queen, as well as the phrase "anyone can achieve their dreams if they've got the courage", in reference to her grandfather. Plus, she's also had an illustration of an Egyptian pharaoh inked on her side as a nod to her grandmother.

Although, Kendall Jenner's sister "you don't put a bumper sticker on a Bentley" Kim Kardashian has famously been against tattoos, Jenner's a bit more relaxed about experimenting with ink. The model has four tattoos in total: A cowboy boot on her foot, the word 'meow' on the inside of her lip, a tiny white dot on her finger, and a broken heart drawn in white ink to match Hailey Bieber's red broken heart tattoo on her finger.

Considering Hailey Bieber's husband is covered head to toe in ink, we're not surprised that the Rhode Skin founder has managed to amass over 20 tattoos herself. Some of them (like her parent's wedding date) are meaningful, while others — like the tiny gun on her finger — were just spur of the moment decisions.

Selena Gomez's tattoos are very sentimental. She has not one, but several tattoos in honour of her best friends and her family members. She's also shown off ink with religious or spiritual meaning too, and the semi-colon on her wrist was to commemorate the filming of 13 Reasons Why. However, there are a few tattoos — including the rose on her back — that she hasn't shared the meaning of just yet.

Despite Bella Hadid's model career, the Orebella founder hasn't been shy about getting inked. She has a few small and seemingly random tattoos, like a trio of dots on her clavicle, a set of wings on her ankle, and a rose on her arm. But the Arabic script on her arms translates to 'I love you' and 'my love', no doubt in honour of her Palestinian father Mohamed Hadid.

Rihanna's tattoos are the result of the beauty mogul and singer touring the world for much of her teens and twenties. So many of them are inspired by various cultures and their traditional tattooing styles, like the henna and moko on her hands. The multi-hyphenate also famously has a large tattoo of the Egyptian goddess Isis on her abdomen, but in total she has more than 30 tattoos all over her body.
