How to pick the right leave-in conditioner for your hair type

Anthony Nader breaks down the benefits of the highly under-utilised product
Leave-in conditioners are an often forgotten about aspect of a hair care routine, but unless you have particularly thin or short strands, it's a product that (when used correctly) can bring out the best in your hair.
Which is why we asked Anthony Nader, founder of RAW by Anthony Nader salon, to explain the purpose of leave-in conditioner, as well as the best ingredients and products for each hair type.
What is the purpose of leave-in conditioner?
First and foremost, leave-in conditioner improves manageability between washes, Nader tells BEAUTYcrew.
"Leaving in the conditioner all day gives your strands more protection and hydration, which acts like a lightweight treatment," he explains. "[It] makes your hair easier to comb through, especially for those with highly coloured or [chemically] treated hair. [It] reduces breakage, and at the same time, smooths over the roughest of hair textures."
Plus, if you're forever fighting frizz, the hair expert says it's your best chance at achieving #glasshair, because it works beautifully to smooth flyaways in humid environments. But that's not all: "I'm such a believer of shielding your hair from heat damage from electric tools, and of course our strong Aussie sun — a leave-in is the complete protector for shielding strands," says Nader.
So what about curls, wavy or fine hair, and dry and frizzy strands? Here, Nader breaks down the ingredients each hair type should be seeking out in a leave-in conditioner.
