Meet the icy trend taking over our skin care routines
Cryotherapy, the seriously cool (literally) trend, has been taking over our feeds and skin care routines for the past few years. But it’s not just us beauty lovers that are obsessed, even the celebs are totally on board. From Sydney Sweeney’s love of (an actually affordable) ice roller to the fact that both Hailey Bieber and Kylie Jenner dunk their faces into ice baths, we can tell that we’re all sold on the icy trend.
But what actually is cryotherapy, and why does it have us plunging our faces into ice water?
What is cryotherapy?
Cryotherapy is the process of using extreme cold to tighten pores, firm, brighten and depuff skin and even help your skin care products absorb better. It can be as simple as using an ice roller or dunking your face in a bowl of icy water, or you can invest in cryo-specific skin care devices.
How to incorporate cryotherapy into your skin care routine
There’s no doubt that more than ever, we’re looking to streamline our skin care routines, with 61 per cent of Aussies* wanting one product that can become a multitasking fave. Because who doesn’t want a tool that can handle everything, all while letting you scroll TikTok?
Shark Beauty CryoGlow
The new Shark CryoGlow Under-Eye Cooling and LED Face Mask is the perfect multi-functional tool. Sure, you might’ve tried at-home LED masks before, but you haven’t tried one that has been developed with dermatologists, has three light options and cryo-technology.
Because Shark Beauty knows that we love to multitask (93 per cent of us combine another daily ritual with our skin care routines), the moulded mask has been designed with cushioned pads and an ultra-supportive T-bar strap. Plus, the hands-free design means that you can keep getting things done, letting the screen remote track your treatments for you. Because let’s be real, if it’s not comfy, we’re not going to reach for it. And with LED masks, the results are truly cumulative, so you want to be reaching for your mask on the daily (which this innovative newbie has been designed for).
But what can it help you with? Well, with iQLED technology, the mask features 160 tri-wick LEDS, incorporating 480 blue, red and infrared light sources that are programmed into four different skin-supporting treatments.
The ‘Better Ageing’ treatment offers six minutes of red and infrared lights to target fine lines and skin firmness. ‘Skin Clearing’ combines all three lights in an eight-minute session designed to target bacteria. The quick and effortless (read: four minutes long) ‘Skin Sustain’ mode utilises all three lights to help maintain skin radiance after eight weeks of targeted treatments. And finally, the true cryo-backed innovation, the ‘Under-Eye Revive’ treatment, offers three levels of cooling to help tighten your tired under eyes. Because yes, we know that over half of you feel that your undereye concerns are negatively impacting your confidence.
With all treatments running for eight minutes or less, there’s no chance of skin care routine fatigue here.
