The hair tool behind all the glamorous blow outs at the Oscars

Now that's what we call a glowing review
Awards season is the perfect time to get the lowdown on the most-used beauty products on the red carpet.
In the last few months alone, we've been reminded of cult favourites from Dior thanks to Anna Sawai's Golden Globes makeup. Plus, Nicola Coughlan and Demi Moore have both been sporting full faces of Charlotte Tilbury at the BAFTAs, SAG Awards, and the Oscars too.
We even got a sneak preview of some upcoming Revlon launches after Madelyn Cline orchestrated their debut at the Vanity Fair Oscars After Party. In fact, you may not have even realised it, but there were several celebrities in attendance at both the Oscars and the Vanity Fair After Party, who had all incorporated another new launch into their hair routine.
Introducing: Dyson's Supersonic r™ Professional Hair Dryer ($799 from Dyson).
The professional grade hair dryer that was originally only available to hair dressers, but as of March 2025, will be available to the wider public. Which means that you can achieve blow outs that will rival the likes of celebrity hair stylists Renato Campora, Dimitris Giannetos, Mara Roszak, and Irinel De Leon.
Not to mention, mimic the effortless styles of Chloé's Autumn/Winter 2025 show at Paris Fashion Week, where the hair tool made it's official runway debut.
Every celebrity that used the Dyson Supersonic r Professional at the Oscars
Selena Gomez
Styled by Renato Campora
Selena Gomez's old Hollywood inspired hair at the Oscars wouldn't have been possible without the fast-drying abilities of the Dyson Supersonic r™ Professional hair dryer ($799 from Dyson).
"I was inspired by the silhouette of the dress and jewellery. Channelling the timeless elegance of Hollywood glamour movie star. A deep side part and polished pin curls exuded sophistication and elegance," Campora explained via press release.
"[I was able to achieve a] quick, round-brush blowout using the Dyson Supersonic™ r Professional Hair Dryer at high heat and high air flow settings," he shared. "My goal [was] to achieve full, lush, bouncy, shiny, and healthy-looking hair."
Demi Moore
Styled by Dimitris Giannetos
"I was inspired by Demi’s beautiful Armani dress and wanted her hair to be glamorous, timeless, and powerful like her personality," shared Giannetos in a press release. "I referenced an iconic photoshoot Demi did for the cover of Vogue Magazine in the early 2000s by Mario Testino."
"[I used] the Dyson Supersonic™ r Professional Hair Dryer at high heat and high air flow settings to give a fresh blowout," he explained.
Zoë Saldaña
Styled by Mara Roszak
Mara Roszak used the new Supersonic r Professional to create Best Supporting Actress Oscar winner, Zoë Saldaña's, wavy blow out for the biggest night in the actress' career to date.
"Zoe’s soft flowing waves were inspired by the movement in her gorgeous YSL custom gown," shared Roszak. Who applied root lifting spray and styling oil to her damp strands before blow drying, setting the hair in pin curls, and and applying a thickening spray.
"[I used] the Dyson Supersonic™ r with Diffuser attachment at high heat and high air flow to gently seal in the style and hold," she explained. "Once [the] pin curls [were] set, [I] carefully remove the pins and gently [brushed] the hair out."
Emma Stone
Styled by Mara Roszak
Roszak was very busy on Oscars day, because she also had Emma Stone in her chair. However, her process was a little bit different, given Stone was growing out a shaved head.
"To achieve Emma Stone's 1920s to 30s inspired finger wave hairstyle, [I started] by creating a precise side part using a rattail comb, aligning it with the arch of the eyebrow," shared Roszak. "Then, [I used] the Dyson Supersonic™ r Professional Hair Dryer ($799 from Dyson) at high heat and high air flow settings to dry [the] hair smooth."
The hairstylist then applied a generous amount of styling cream throughout Stone's hair to sculpt, smooth, and add medium hold. Then, using a fine-tooth comb, she created that S-wave shape.
"As a final touch, [I] lightly [misted] the hair with hairspray and [used] the Dyson Supersonic™ r Professional Hair Dryer at low heat and low air flow settings to seal the style," she went on tosay. "This created a protective barrier that helped shield the hair from humidity and [kept the] waves in place for the evening."
Adria Arjona
Styled by Irinel De Leon
Blink Twice star Adria Arjona embraced her natural texture for the Vanity Fair Oscars After Party, and we're so glad she did, because it was one of our favourite hair moments of the night.
"For Adria’s Vanity Fair look, we wanted her hair to feel as ethereal and effortless as her dress. Keeping her natural texture gave the look a whimsical, airy quality — nothing too structured or overdone. Since the dress is strapless with beautiful pleating, we felt that soft, natural curls would balance the overall aesthetic, adding a romantic touch that felt organic and modern," explained her hairstylist Irinel De Leon.
Leon applied the pre-styling cream from the Dyson Chitosan range to Arjona's damp hair to boost moisture, define curls, and enhance manageability. Then she used the Dyson Supersonic™ r Professional Hair Dryer with the Diffuser attachment on high heat and high airflow to enhance her natural curl pattern, while maintaining volume and shape.
Chrissy Teigen
Styled by Irinel De Leon
Leon was also responsible for Chrissy Teigen's voluminous Vanity Fair party blow out.
"We wanted to go with a soft and polished finish to play into her dress," said Leon. "We wanted to keep the ends curled inward with a little bit of a bend around her face to accentuate her facial features and also cut of the dress as well. It’s an ode to a classic '90s supermodel look, structured yet soft."
To achieve the classic finish, Leon used the Styling Concentrator attachment on high heat and high airflow for a sleek, voluminous base, and the Detangling Comb attachment to brush through the ends of Teigen's hair.
What is the difference between the Dyson Supersonic and Professional?
If you're a big fan of the scalp health conscious Dyson Supersonic Nural that was released last year, then you're probably wondering what the major difference is between the hair dryer you already own, and the new Professional.
The key difference between the two models is that the Professional edition of the Dyson Supersonic was re-engineered specifically with stylists and busy salon environments in mind. Which is why it boasts features like two improved magnetic filters that are completely removable and washable, and come with a filter cleaning brush. As well as, a longer, 11 foot long power cord, for free and easy movement, when styling yourself or others.
The most compelling point of difference in our opinion though, is that the Professional is a hell of a lot gruntier than any other Dyson Supersonic model on the market right now. However, it's also 30 per cent smaller and 20 per cent lighter than other hair dryer. So if you're time poor, or just can't stand the feeling of a dead arm while styling, the new Professional R is likely the tool for you.
Where can I buy the Dyson Supersonic r™ Professional hair dryer?
The Dyson Supersonic r™ Professional hair dryer is now available on the Dyson website or in-store at Dyson Demo Stores exclusively, retailing for $799. But we suspect the new hair tool will roll-out to Australian retailers who currently stock Dyson products in the coming months.

That wasn't the only Dyson hair tool that we spotted in the hair routines of celebrities during Oscars weekend, the Dyson Corrale was in high rotation.
