Miley Cyrus just co-signed everyone's favourite affordable makeup brand
"[They] share my belief that makeup should be expressive, ever evolving"
If you grew up in the '00s then the Maybelline jingle likely unlocks a core memory in the same way that Miley Cyrus' Hannah Montana yodels do. But magically, in the here and now, these two icons have joined forces.
"I remember singing the Maybelline jingle as a kid and imagining it was me on the screen. Now, it is. To take something so iconic and make it mine — it’s powerful and personal,” Miley Cyrus, Maybelline's new global ambassador, shared in a press release.
Cyrus joins the likes of Gigi Hadid and Dylan Mulvaney as the makeup juggernaut's latest famous face, but it's not the first time the musician has worked with Maybelline.
The Flowers singer and her makeup artist, James Kaliardos, have been partnering with the brand for red carpet events over the last 12 months. So we guess you could call her recent Met Gala and Grammy Awards looks a proverbial cheeky wink to what lies ahead.
What are Miley Cyrus' favourite Maybelline products?
Kaliardos typically uses Maybelline's Grippy Serum 24H Gripping Primer (usually $27.99, now on sale for $13.99 from Chemist Warehouse) for a smooth flawless base, and the Superfluff Brow Mousse in 'Blonde' (usually $24.99, now on sale for $12.49 from Chemist Warehouse) to keep Cyrus' brows soft and fluffy on the red carpet. But the singer also has her own favourite Maybelline products that she uses everyday.
"I've been wearing the new Superstay Vinyl Ink (usually $26.99, now on sale for $13.49 from Priceline), it stays on through rehearsals and late night sessions," she dished in a press release. "I use Instant Age Rewind (usually $22.99, now on sale for $11.49 from Priceline) under my eyes and to brighten around my nose. Its so easy to apply and just lifts everything."
But she counts Maybelline's Sky High Mascara ($12.99 from Chemist Warehouse) as her go-to: "It gives me that wide-eyed, lifted look I love, I never skip it."
And according to Kaliardos it's the key to nailing her signature makeup look — a sideways swipe of mascara that mimics liner. "I brush Sky High Mascara in 'Black' on horizontally to create that faux liner effect," the makeup artist explained via Instagram.
Miley Cyrus' cover of the iconic Maybelline jingle
There are few jingles as historically iconic as 'Maybe It's Maybelline', but if anyone's poised to absolutely body a cover of Maybelline's musical contribution to the world, it's Miley Cyrus.
"This partnership brings together two core parts of me; you can’t erase makeup from music — within music, there’s performance and honesty — makeup enhances both," the pop star explained via press release. "It’s how I tell my truth without saying a word, [and] Maybelline shares my belief that makeup should be expressive, ever evolving, [so] partnering with Maybelline — a brand that celebrates meaningful values, self-expression and play — felt like the most natural fit in this stage of my life."
But it's not just Cyrus who's a fan, in fact Sandrine Jolly, Maybelline's Global Brand President calls the 32 year old a global icon and a muse of modern beauty.
"Her creativity and artistry dance between strength and sensitivity," Jolly gushed. "She brings a deeply personal lens to beauty that is expressive and emotional."
"With her unmistakable voice and vision, she turns our iconic jingle into something raw, intimate, and powerfully reflective of this Maybelline era," Maybelline's President went on to say.
