Silk scarves & bandanas are the hottest hair trend this season

"[Invest in] a summery feel as the weather warms up"

BEAUTYcrew Beauty Editor / August 28 2025

The resurrection of hair scarves and bandanas has been our favourite spring hair trend to emerge from the northern hemisphere's street style in the warmer months, because of how versatile the trend is, regardless of your hair type or style inclinations.

"Scarves have long been a style staple, with luxury fashion houses like Hermès, Dior, and Gucci reintroducing them in modern collections," The Iconic's Head Of Style, Nicole Adolphe, tells BEAUTYcrew.

"What began as a runway and A-list holiday hair accessory has quickly filtered into mainstream fashion, with high-street brands offering playful, affordable versions seen everywhere from city streets to beach getaways, and worn in various ways," she explains.

Case in point? Influencers all over TikTok have been sharing unique and simple ways to style a scarf, emulating runway and celebrity trends.

How to style the hair scarf trend

"Scarves can be styled as a chic hair accessory wrapped around a ponytail, braid, or worn as a headband, and tied around the neck as a light accent, or knotted onto a handbag for a splash of pattern," Adolphe instructs.

"Hailey Bieber has been spotted tying scarves as tops and head wraps on holiday," she tells us. "Harry Styles incorporates bold printed scarves into his stage outfits, Bella Hadid embraces vintage-inspired neckerchiefs, and Dua Lipa frequently pairs statement scarves with swimwear or festival looks."

The trending scarf prints and colours to try this season

Popular designs at the moment include playful polka dots, and sleek geometric patterns like Belle And Bloom's New Yorker Fashion Scarf Dots ($34.96 from The Iconic), says Adolphe.

The Iconic's Head Of Style also recommends investing in high-impact brights and sorbet pastels for a summery feel as the weather warms up, like this pre-Loved Hermes Carriage Print Silk Scarf ($687 from The Iconic).

Material matters when you're shopping too: "Look for 100 per cent silk as it’s breathable, lightweight and feels luxurious on the skin," she advises.

We're taking her word for it and adding this silk Sandro Scarf ($215 from The Iconic) to cart; the traditional bandana print is a luxurious way to elevate a street style staple we know and love.
