'The Buccaneers' star Aubri Ibrag's simple 5-step skin care routine

She's a big fan of Bella Hadid's favourite facial

Dagestani-Australian actress Aubri Ibrag may be the star of The Buccaneers these days, but the 23 year old first made a name for herself down under as a model and beauty vlogger in the late 2010's.

The makeup guru had over 700,000 YouTube and Instagram followers at the height of her success as an influencer, and she partnered with big names in beauty like L’Oréal Paris and MECCA in the past too.

However, the Melbournian deactivated her YouTube channel when she decided to pursue acting — so unlike a lot of actors who decide to pivot into the industry with yet another celebrity beauty brand — when we spot her using a beauty product on TikTok, we get really excited.

For example, when Ibrag recently shared her skin care routine with her followers, we knew we could trust that she wasn't just slapping on any old products — they had to be good.

Ahead, the five skin care steps that Aubri Ibrag never skips before a photo shoot.

1/ Loops Dream Sleep Slugging Hydrogel Face Mask

Designed to emulate the effects of a slugging skin care routine and a full nights sleep, this two-piece hydrogel face mask from Loops restores, tones, plumps and hydrates the skin in just 10 minutes.

Enriched with niacinamide, bakuchiol, ceramides, and a blend of macadamia nut, jojoba, grape seed, olive, avocado, and evening primrose oils, Loops Dream Sleep Slugging Hydrogel Face Mask ($12 from MECCA) creates a complex protective barrier that improves moisture retention.

Plus, each of these carefully selected ingredients aid in simultaneously addressing uneven skin tone, enlarged pores, fine lines, and an unhappy skin barrier.

2/ An ice plunge facial

Just like Bella Hadid, The Buccaneers star swears by an ice plunge facial to prep her skin prior to a photo shoot. However, if she's staying in a hotel and doesn't have a bowl on hand she'll fill the bathroom sink with ice and water, and dunk her face for a few seconds at a time to refresh her complexion.

The practice helps to minimise puffiness, and the appearance of pores and dark circles, but it also enhances radiance, tone, and circulation.

3/ Drunk Elephant B-Hydra™ Intensive Hydration Serum

This hydrating serum from Drunk Elephant may seem like a rather pricey addition to the usually affordable skin care category, but Drunk Elephant's B-Hydra™ Intensive Hydration Serum ($92 from MECCA) doesn't just contain pro-vitamin B5 (AKA panthenol) and hyaluronic acid.

Ibrag's daytime serum of choice is also full of fruit extracts, like radiance-enhancing and tone and texture-refining pineapple ceramides, as well as watermelon, lentil, and apple extracts.

4/ Weleda Skin Food

Weleda Skin Food ($17.50 from Priceline) is a well-documented celebrity favourite, so we weren't entirely surprised when we spotted this viral cult-favourite in Ibrag's pre-photo shoot skin care routine.

The multitasking formula is notoriously good at prepping particularly dry skin before makeup, though you can tap the stuff onto the high points of the face to control the glow if you have oily skin.

Alternatively, it can be used as a hand cream, or even as a body balm on dry elbows and cracked heels.

5/ Sunscreen

Although she might not have mentioned it recently, Ibrag actually shared with Girlfriend's Beauty Boss podcast in 2019 that she always wears a lot of sunscreen, even though her friends make fun of her for it.

"They just don’t understand why it’s so important, and I try to explain it to them, and they just brush it off," she explained. "But it’s one of those things — like you know when your mum says ‘You shouldn’t do this, this will be a mistake’ and you’re like ‘No, it’s fine mum!’, and then a couple of days later, you’re just like ‘Oh no’  you know?”.

Aubri Ibrag isn't the only Aussie who's obsessed with skin care. Here's every skin care product Phoebe Tonkin puts on her face.

Briar Clark got her start in the media industry in 2017, as an intern for Marie Claire and InStyle. Since then, her keen interest in fashion and beauty has landed her gigs as a Digital Content Producer and Beauty Editor with titles like Girlfriend, Refinery29, BEAUTYcrew and beautyheaven. She loves the way seemingly innocuous topics like skin care and style have the ability to put a smile on people’s faces or make them think about themselves a little differently. A big believer in self love and experimentation, Briar has made a point of becoming the Australian beauty industry’s unofficial guinea pig for unusual treatments and daring hair trends. When she’s not testing out the latest beauty launches, Briar is big on broadening her horizons, mostly in the form of food but she’s also partial to travelling to new destinations both near and far (and of course, allocating an extra bag to bring their best beauty offerings home with her).
