3 things Hailey Bieber did to prep her skin for the Met Gala

Low effort, high reward

Beauty Crew Beauty Editor / May 09 2025

Everyone knows Hailey Bieber has great skin.

In the past the Rhode Skin founder admitted to using a complicated roster of serums, oils, face masks, and skin care tools to prep her skin prior to photo shoots. And obviously, after starting her own skin care brand, Rhode Skin, in 2022 she has access to all the brand's viral best-sellers, which have all made their way into her skin care routine.

However, despite all this, Bieber just shared with her TikTok followers that her Met Gala skin prep routine included just three steps.

To say we were shocked by the 17 second video would be an understatement. But it was also incredibly refreshing to see a celebrity rely on realistic methods prior to red carpet events, especially when we spend most of our time lusting after expensive facials when Met Monday usually rolls around.

Want to know what Bieber's simple approach to Met Gala skin care looks like? Keep scrolling to discover the exact steps responsible for her red carpet ready skin, as well as a few product recommendations for you to try while you're at it.

1/ Cryotherapy

Just like fellow celebrities Kate Moss, Bella Hadid and Shay Mitchell, Bieber starts her red carpet skin routine by plunging her face into a bowl of ice water for an at-home 'ice facial'. You can follow suit by filling a large bowl up with ice cubes and water, and submerging your cleansed skin under the water for a few seconds at a time.

However, if you'd prefer to not get wet, we recommend investing in a cryo tool that you can store in the fridge. Not only do they depuff, tone and tighten the skin prior to a big event, but they can also be used to gently massage the skin to aid serum absorption and minimise redness.

Try: Odacité Cryo-Tech Facial Tool ($134.64 from Cult Beauty), Nurse Jamie Super-Cryo Massaging Orb ($52.71 from Amazon Australia), and BeautyBio Cryo Dual Ended Roller ($139 from MECCA)

2/ A depuffing face pack

After cooling off with an ice facial, Bieber slathers on a healthy layer of a depuffing face pack that she can wear for 20 minutes, and then wash off to continue with the rest of her routine.

There are plenty of innovative cold or cryo therapy face masks that use cooling ingredients to de-puff, firm, tighten and enhance radiance in just a few short minutes. Look for products that also incorporate ingredients that encourage a plump, moisturised and nourished complexion too for additional benefits (think: peptides, squalane and shea butter).

Try: Clarins Cryo-Flash Cream Mask ($110 from Adore Beauty), Kit Cold Therapy Facial Treatment ($42 from MECCA), and Perricone MD Cold Plasma Plus+ The Intensive Gel Mask ($162 from MECCA)

3/ A hydrating sheet mask

Finally, Bieber blasts her skin with a last minute dose of moisturisation by way of a hydrating sheet mask.

Although we're sure there are plenty of expensive options stashed in the Rhode Skin founder's bathroom cabinet, there are plenty of affordable options that work just as well, if you'd like to adopt this step into your own routine at home.

Sheet masks infused with serums that contain ingredients like hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, panthenol and glycerin are a great place to start.

Try: Hada Labo Moisturising Facial Sheet Mask ($4.76 from Priceline), Go-To Skincare Transformazing Sheet Mask ($11 from Go-To Skincare), and Conserving Beauty Thirsty Face Dissolving Face Mask ($16 from Priceline)

Hailey Bieber's not the only celebrity with a fabulous skin care routine — Demi Moore's red carpet skin prep is genius.

Briar Clark got her start in the media industry in 2017, as an intern for Marie Claire and InStyle. Since then, her keen interest in fashion and beauty has landed her gigs as a Digital Content Producer and Beauty Editor with titles like Girlfriend, Refinery29, BEAUTYcrew and beautyheaven. She loves the way seemingly innocuous topics like skin care and style have the ability to put a smile on people’s faces or make them think about themselves a little differently. A big believer in self love and experimentation, Briar has made a point of becoming the Australian beauty industry’s unofficial guinea pig for unusual treatments and daring hair trends. When she’s not testing out the latest beauty launches, Briar is big on broadening her horizons, mostly in the form of food but she’s also partial to travelling to new destinations both near and far (and of course, allocating an extra bag to bring their best beauty offerings home with her).
