Gracie Abrams' on tour makeup bag is full of viral products

"I do my own makeup on tour which I actually really enjoy"
Gracie Abrams makeup routine is a subject we will always find fascinating — she is particularly adept at looking ethereal at all hours of the day.
But rather than expect her makeup artist, Emily Cheng, to travel with her always, Abrams has taken it upon herself to become Cheng's dedicated student.
"I do my own makeup on tour, which I actually really enjoy, because it kind of is like this dedicated 30-minute period of the day where it's quiet. I listen to like classical music and try to tune out," Abrams told Allure. "I learned how to do my makeup from Emily Cheng — my genius makeup artist."
While filming the music video for 'Call Me When You Break Up' — Abrams' collaboration with Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco — Cheng filmed herself applying Abrams makeup. And Abrams has studied the 45 minute long video religiously to prepare for 'The Secret Of Us: Deluxe' tour.
"The day that we shot the pictures and the video for the song I did with Selena and Benny, we realized that that was the last time we were gonna see each other before I left on the road," Abrams explained. "I watched [the video] on the first night of tour this past month, and I feel like I just tried to lock in and gain as much knowledge through her as I could."
These days Abrams can complete her on-tour makeup routine in just 10 minutes thanks to a simple kit of viral makeup products (read: she doesn't do foundation).
"I feel like, having watched beauty videos, I'm trained to do this," she joked.
6 viral products Gracie Abrams always wears on tour

1/ Caudalie Beauty Elixir
"This is the Caudalie Beauty Elixir ($29 from Sephora), this is what I use every time I'm doing my makeup and it also feels like a bit of like a meditative thing — the smell is crazy good," Abrams shared. "It smells like — it reminds me of being home — so I think being on tour every five seconds this is like a bit of home for me. It's like the sense memory of smells that like really brings you back to a place of peace."

2/ Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask
"This is the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask in 'Vanilla' ($31 from Sephora). I think I've had every — I was gonna say flavour — every scent of this product over the past few years. It's like always in my bag. It's the best to prep," Abrams gushed. "The look that I'm doing today is very glowy — it's just supposed to be fresh — [so I wear this] alone. You don't need like a liner or a balm, or a gloss or anything. This kind of does it all."

3/ Hourglass Veil Hydrating Skin Tint
"This is the Hourglass Veil Hydrating Skin Tint ($80 from MECCA) [and I'm] addicted to this — it's gorgeous," Abrams explained. "I'm in shade '3', [but] sometimes shade '1', because I'm pale beyond belief."
"It's so glowy, and it just feels like a silky moisturiser, so I [apply] it with my fingers," she continued. "I've just been on tour. I got back two nights ago... and traveling, like flying, dries out your skin in a huge way. This product reverses that [and it] makes me feel like I haven't just been the most dehydrated girl in the history of time for the past month."

4/ Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Concealer
"This product does go hand-in-hand with [Hourglass Veil Hydrating Skin Tint ($80 from MECCA)] for me, and sometimes I don't use concealer, because I don't really mind always when there's like — I have a few spots right now — a few blemishes, and it doesn't bother me really for that to show through," Abrams shared. "But when I'm on tour — or if you wanna just not see them — this is the Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Concealer ($62 from MECCA) in 'Silk'. I use this under eyes, on blemishes. It helps brightening your face, obviously, but it's just really mega."
"There's something really relaxing about using your fingers only to do makeup. In therapy, I learned about tapping... it helps regulate your nervous system. [It's] something that I do to reduce anxiety, which might sound silly to people who haven't tried it before, but it's actually really great and it does help calm me down," she explained. "I feel like pre-show, I'm always tapping my face, and so to be honest, applying concealer feels like an extension of that a little bit — it's peaceful."

5/ Milk Makeup Sculpt Contour Stick
"This palette, Emily [Cheng] made for me. This is the Milk contour ($42 from Sephora)... I use [it] every single time I'm on stage, and I also use them in my day-to-day life," Abrams dished. "I do more intricate work with the contour. I like to warm up my face in certain places, mostly [under the cheekbones], [the brow bone], [under the nose], [and] a little bit under my lip sometimes... I do a little bit on my chin... I think it just helps create a little shadow."

6/ Fenty Cheeks Out Freestyle Cream Blush in 'Summertime Wine'
"Skin tint and blush I would say are the two go-to products, and this is Fenty [Cheeks Out Freestyle Cream Blush] in 'Summertime Wine'," Abrams said.
"Sometimes I'll tap the blush into the highlighter, so it's kind of just a two-in-one thing. I [apply] it a little bit excessively, but it makes me feel alive again. I think that's the theme of this look is like trying to feel as alive as possible," she explained. "I've seen so many videos on blush placement, and what it can do for the shape of your face, but I just go everywhere with it."
"I curl lashes at the very end, because I don't like wearing mascara, to be honest," Abrams explained. "On a daily basis, I feel like it can be drying, and I don't know sometimes I don't love how I look wearing mascara, and I'm not necessarily that great at applying it."
"This is just what I do on a daily basis," she said. "I'm feeling fresh and alive... [and] this is the finished look."
