Renee Rapp's lip liner is the same colour as her areolas

"It actually works and this is the best lip liner colour for me"
Renee Rapp has built a reputation as an unfiltered pop star, so when Allure recently asked the singer to share her 10 minute makeup routine, we were unsurprised to see the words 'I match my lip liner to my nipples' slotted alongside a healthy peppering of profanities.
In fact, curating a suggestive aesthetic is kind of Rapp's thing.
She likes eyeliner, because it looks a little sleazy. She darkens her beauty spots, because it reminds her of Playboy centrefold Anna Nicole Smith, and she's light handed with her lip gloss to prevent potential collisions when she's kissing her girlfriend.
"I'm 25. I'm cute. Like I'm gonna f***in', I'm gonna wear makeup sometimes, but I also like just looking kind of bare and sexy," she told the publication. "Like the line in Leave Me Alone, it's like 'I match my lip liner to my nipples', I actually do, and you're about to see it."
You don't need to tell us twice — keep scrolling to peep Rapp's full makeup routine.
1/ She uses the same foundation brush for everything
"I use [MAC Cosmetics Prep + Prime Skin Refined Zone ($51 from MAC Cosmetics)] for things that you shouldn't or wouldn't usually use primer for," said Rapp — she dabs it onto her lips, the tops of her cheeks, between her brows, and onto the bridge of her nose.
"I don't like wearing foundation," the 25 year old confessed, pulling out a bottle of Koh Gen Do Maifanshi Aqua Foundation (usually $67.88, now on sale for $54.30 from YesStyle) from her makeup bag, and applying it with a brush she admits she's had since she was 18.
"I used to religiously wear makeup when I was a kid," she explained. "I used to wake up like three hours before school... I was like 'well, I have to wear makeup to overcompensate for the fact that I'm gay' — it made sense to me."
She spot conceals with Nars' Soft Matte Complete Concealer ($56 from MECCA) and a flat concealer brush, and then buffs out the product with her foundation brush. Then to add a bit of colour back to her complexion she haphazardly applies smudges of Freck Beauty's FACE HACK Precision Sculpting Bronzer Stick in 'Medium Tan' (usually $28.18, now on sale for $25.36 from Amazon) on the tops of her cheekbones.
"I kind of fake contour my nose," she explained, drawing a few faint lines of bronzer along the bridge and lengths of her nose.
"I also put it into my eyes, it just like, looks good," she said, buffing out the bronzer with her favourite foundation brush in an upwards motion.

2/ She prefers complexion products over traditional eye makeup
"This is the best part. This s**t is gas. It's the [Rhode Pocket Blush in 'Toasted Teddy' (not available in Australia)], and I love it," Rapp gushed, flashing the viral product at the camera. She applies her blush in the same place as her bronzer (read: cheekbones, temples and nose) for a sunkissed look.
Unfortunately, we're still waiting for Rhode to ship to Australia, so if you want a blush with a similar finish you'll have to get your hands on Merit's Flush Balm in 'Fox' ($48 from Merit) instead.
According to Rapp, she doesn't have the skills required to successfully pull off an elaborate eye look.
Instead she takes the blush from the unfortunately discontinued Kosas Color and Light Palette in 'Helios' and buffs it onto her temples, lids, cheeks and nose, but the blush and highlight in Isamaya's Skin Enhancing Duo in 'Nectarine' ($58 from MECCA) looks pretty similar in our opinion.
If she's feeling it, Rapp will press a small amount of L'Oréal's True Match Lumi Glotion Natural Glow Bronzing Enhancer in 'Medium' ($27.99 from Chemist Warehouse) onto the tops of her cheekbones at the end of her routine, but if you have oily skin we'd recommend skipping this step.

3/ She loves small details that add character to her makeup
"I love that b****es are doing fake freckles," she joked, whipping out a mini tube of Freck Beauty's The Original Freckle Pen (usually $43.83, now on sale for $34.44 from Amazon Australia).
"First, I do my actual beauty mark, because I want that one to just be darker, and then I just go crazy," she explained, dotting the freckle pen all over her cheeks and nose. "That's why I put primer up here."
The she sets under her eyes, and around her nose and mouth with the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish in 'Fair' ($76 from Charlotte Tilbury).
"This eyelash curler, it is so f***ing good it's stupid," Rapp grinned, with the Surratt Relevée Lash Curler ($55.42 from FWRD) in hand.
Rather than applying a few coats of mascara, she curls her lashes and uses Urban Decay Cosmetics 247 Waterproof Waterline Eyeliner Pencil in 'Legend' ($39.60 from Cult Beauty) to fill in her waterline, extending it outwards to create a very small wing. Then she drags her finger underneath the line to blend it out, and uses the excess product on her concealer brush to clean things up a bit.
"I do love eyeliner, because again, I wanna look more, I don't know. Sometimes I just like it," she explained. "It just looks a little sleazy — like it just looks sluttier — which I love. I think like the sleazier the better sometimes."

4/ She colour matches her lip combo to her areolas
"My most asked beauty question is 'what is your lip combo?'," says Rapp. "I've been holding out on you b****es."
As it turns out 'I match my lip liner to my nipples' isn't just a line in her new single Leave Me Alone, it's a subtle nod to Palladio's Lip Stain in 'Mocha' (not available in Australia), which Rapp discovered while doom scrolling through TikTok one day.
"This is the best lip liner colour for me, and it matches my f***in' areola," she joked.
If you've been blessed with the same colouring as Rapp, but stressed that the singer's favourite lip liner isn't available in Australia, let us introduce you to Huda Beauty's new Lip Contour Stain in 'Toasty Brown' ($43 from Huda Beauty). It's near identical.
Rapp lines her lips and blends it out with her finger for a natural, gradient finish. Then she applies the Make Up For Ever Artist Color Pencil Extreme in 'Wherever Walnut' ($39 from Sephora) over the top, making sure to leave the centre of her lips bare.
"All shades are not created equal, because the Wherever Walnut [liner from] Makeup Forever that's not waterproof does not look the same on me as this does," she explained. "Just don't go in the middle, because when that looks lighter, I feel like it looks better."
She then dabs a small amount of L'Oréal Paris' Plump Ambition Hyaluron Lip Oil in 'Wine O' Clock' ($20.99 from Chemist Warehouse) right in the centre of her lips and nowhere else — or else.
"If you kiss somebody, if you do something — you have a drink, and you don't have a straw — you're done for," she warned. "Don't do too much."
