Hailey Bieber has over 20 tattoos, and here’s what they mean

Inked by the tattoo artist JonBoy, Bieber has ‘VI-X-XC’ written vertically down the side of her forearm. The Roman numeral markings translate to her parents' wedding anniversary, June 10th, 1990. Aw.

Located on her collarbone, Bieber told The Cut that her love heart tattoo was a purely aesthetic decision.

"I just think it looks cute. There’s no story behind it," she explained. "I think the really little dainty tattoos are very, like, they’re very pretty on girls."

'Minas Gerais', the name of a state in Brazil, is written in lowercase cursive across her ankle. This one is an ode to the country in which her mother was born.

Like most of Bieber’s tattoos, this one is written in teeny tiny script. Placed on her hip, the handwriting says 'gente' which is Portuguese for 'people'. 

On her other hip reads '1996' the year Bieber was born. How do we know this without photographic evidence? Well, she told The Cut back in 2018.

On the nape of her neck, Bieber has the word 'lover' and a cross to represent her Christian faith.

Bieber had tattoo artist Jon Boy ink a small diamond under her right ear, and then she asked Dr. Woo to add 'New York' in script underneath.

As far as we know, Bieber currently has two back tattoos. The first is the French phrase 'coeur d'Alene' which means 'Alene's heart' (Alene being her sister's middle name).

Down her spine reads the word 'unseen'. Though the exact reference hasn't been confirmed, it's rumoured to be from the Bible.

If Bieber herself doesn’t know the meaning behind this tattoo then how should we? She first loaded an image of her gun tattoo to Instagram in 2015 captioned: “tbh I don't know why I have this tattoo…”

At the end of 2023, Bieber shared a "new tiny baby tat" of a bow on her wrist via her Instagram stories. Though she failed to mention why she got the ink, we have a feeling this might be one of those instances where aesthetics trump meaning.

In 2016, shortly after breaking up with Justin Bieber (don't worry they got back together in 2018), the then Hailey Baldwin got a tattoo in reference of a bible verse, so you know she must've taken that split very hard. "He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less" — John 3:30.

Hailey Bieber shares not one but two tattoos with her bestie Kendall Jenner, the first being the aforementioned 'pray' on the side of their hands, and the second of which is a broken heart on their middle fingers. Beiber's is in red ink, while full-time model Jenner has had hers inked in white.

Beleza, meaning 'beauty in Portuguese' is a personal tattoo for Bieber and she has not shared with the public what it means to her yet. 

Although the artist, Mr. K, did share the following message after he posted the piece on Instagram: "It was PLEASURE for your trust on this meaningful piece."

Like many people in love, Hailey Bieber decided to mark her marriage to Justin Bieber with a tattoo. Mrs Bieber added the letter J and a sparkling diamond to her ring finger.

Touchingly, Bieber and several other celebrities share a g for Georgia Veach, the daughter of Hillsong pastor Chad Veach who was diagnosed with a rare brain disorder called lissencephaly.
