We asked an expert to teach us how to recreate Lana Del Rey’s wedding day hair

“It’s understated yet glamorous — exactly the kind of style that’s going viral for brides-to-be”

Lana Del Rey has finally shared photos of her wedding via Instagram, one year after locking down her airboat captain, Jeremy Dufrene, in an intimate ceremony on the Louisiana bayous where the couple first met.

From her southern belle inspired lace gown, the silk ribbon in her hair, and the self-made ‘Love on the Bayou’ scented love potion she fragranced herself with — everything was very Lana Del Rey coded.

“Soft, curly and effortlessly vintage, the look is a nod to southern romance: loose, brushed-through waves gathered with a ribbon, exuding femininity and charm,” Shark Beauty Ambassador and USFIN Atelier founder Daniel Jianing Liu tells BEAUTYcrew when we asked the expert to break down Del Rey’s bridal hair. “It’s understated yet glamorous — exactly the kind of style that’s going viral for brides-to-be and fans of Lana’s ethereal aesthetic.”

“The key is keeping the curls soft and touchable — not overly defined. The ribbon accessory instantly elevates the look into something timeless and poetic, just like Lana’s Bayou moment,” says Jianing Liu. “The Frosted Diamond FlexStyle ($499.99 from Shark Beauty) makes achieving this wedding-worthy hair fast, damage-free, and endlessly versatile.”

“Start with damp hair and apply a heat protectant,” says Jianing Liu. We prefer applying something lightweight like Kérastase’s Genesis Anti-Breakage Blowdry Spray ($71 from Oz Hair & Beauty) before we blowdry, to protect our hair.

“Attach the auto-wrap curlers to create large, soft curls, alternating directions for a more natural finish,” Jianing Liu explains. “Once curls are warm, pin them to set and cool for lasting hold.”

The expert then recommends gently brushing through your hair with your fingers or a wide-tooth comb like Oribe’s Resin Detangling Comb ($79 from MECCA) to soften and add movement.

“Tie a satin ribbon around the crown or mid-lengths for a romantic finish, and for extra polish, use the styling concentrator to tame flyaways,” Jianing Liu instructs.

Don't have a ribbon in your possesion? We think this Jennifer Behr Virginia Bow Barrette ($295 from Jennifer Behr) is a dead ringer for Del Rey’s ‘something blue’.
