Jennifer Aniston’s haircare line is the best range I’ve used in years (and I’m a beauty editor, so I’ve tried them all)

It just landed in Australia and the formulas are legit even without the famous founder

I’m a big Jennifer Aniston fan. That makes me unique, right? No? Okay, great, got it. Basically everyone is a big Jennifer Aniston fan, and I reckon many of us would be lying if we didn’t admit that honestly, her hair’s as bigger player in that as her impeccable comedic chops and general ‘good time girl’ likability.

Now, when I mention Aniston’s famous mane, I’m not talking about ‘The Rachel’ either - to be honest (and this one’s an actual confession), it was never my fave. I’m a long hair girl at heart, and I could never get on board with the length, the side part or the volume up top. My personal favourite Rachel Green hair era was Season 6 - it was long, flippy, and touched with the perfect amount of ‘I couldn’t be bothered but I happen to look amazing’ that good products and a decent blow-dry effort can offer.

That’s precisely what I was after from Lolavie, the haircare brand Aniston launched in 2021. Classic Australia - we’re only just getting access to it now, but I was not going to let the four year delay to get my hands on it change just how excited I was. Buuuut because I’m a *serious* beauty editor, I decided to judge the products as if Aniston’s involvement wasn’t even a factor. Because as much as I’m a fan, I’m not going to shell out cash for products that don’t make a difference, and neither should you.

Not that you need to worry about that as a potential outcome, though, because I must say, the results were as impressive as the name behind the line. Let’s get into my full review of Lolavie…

Lolavie Review

Lolavie Restorative Shampoo Review

This may be a weird thing to say, but I’ve never felt closer to Jennifer Aniston than when I was lathering up with the same shampoo she does. There was something about smelling the same scent and experiencing the same application as Aniston when washing that really sold me the Lolavie dream. I found I needed to apply a bit more than I usually would - it’s definitely a gentler shampoo formula, and I like to feel squeaky clean - but the level of foam was nice, it felt refreshing on the hair and skin, and the smell is truly something special. I’m not generally a huge citrus person - and call it the Aniston effect - but the notes of Italian lemon, spicy bergamot and cedarwood (plus ‘turquoise waters’ - yep, seriously) feel very true to Aniston’s overall vibe. And that’s where celeb-backed ranges can really stand out - when they feel like a real reflection of who that person is. It smelled like the exact kind of wellness spa I’d always thought Aniston would frequent, and the inclusion of niacinamide from avocados and botanical extracts of lemon and ginger root in the mix felt congruous with who Aniston shows us she is. My hair felt fresh and clean once I’d washed it out, and not quite as dry as usual post-shampoo. This did mean that it felt slightly oilier as the post-wash days progressed, but the wash experience was so enjoyable I don’t mind upping the frequency.

Lolavie Intensive Repair Treatment Review

This step’s an interesting one, as it’s designed to be sandwiched between shampoo and conditioner, instead of applied as the last step. I’ll be interested to trial the shampoo and conditioner sans treatment to see how they fare without it, but I must say from the second I applied it, I was confident it would make a difference. It felt silky as I took it through my mid-lengths to ends, and I liked the way it felt like it could sink in and make a difference before the conditioner sealed the hair up a bit more. The scent was exactly the same - citrus-y, fresh, smelled rich, etc., which is a big benefit when you’re wanting to give it 15 minutes to sink in. This was the product I feel like I’m most likely to restock. I’m excited to test it out overnight as well, but honestly, I really rely on treatments that can actually offer results when you need to wash in a rush, and this one will definitely be going into my repertoire for that brief. Aniston mentions she generally uses it once a week to counteract the damage that comes with filming and red carpets, and as someone who heat-styles daily despite definitely not being a Hollywood actress, I’ll be committing to the same.

Lolavie Restorative Conditioner Review

Honestly, after applying the treatment, I was tempted to forgo conditioner entirely - it felt that silky and soft after rinsing. But for the sake of being a good beauty editor and giving the whole range a real go, I went in with the Restorative Conditioner next. I’m definitely generous with my conditioner application (due to my damaged, dry hair type), but I also wanted to really test out the bond-building benefits. It doesn’t say so on the bottle, but the website recommends you leave it on for 3-5 minutes, so I did exactly that. That teamed with the 10 minutes the treatment takes to settle in definitely makes for a lengthy shower, but the scents do make it feel quite spa-like. If you line hair wash night up with the need to scrub your fake tan or shave, the time waiting can definitely be put to good use. Aniston always speaks to how soft, shiny and full of life her hair feels after using it, and that was exactly how I felt too. My hair was more touchable, it had more of a sheen, even before heat-styling, and I was able to wear it blown out into a straight style without it looking flat or lifeless. There was good volume up top, and I noticed a decrease in the usual level of frizz and flyaways I generally deal with.

Lolavie Glossing Detangler Review

Tangles and dullness are two of my biggest hair concerns, so this product sounded right up my alley. I sprayed onto slightly towel-dried hair fresh out of the shower, focusing on mid-lengths and ends. I combed through with my fingers, before leaving it to air-dry overnight. I wanted to see how my natural curls would settle with the new range - I’ll admit I didn’t love them - but that’s mostly because I don’t love them overall - I’m working on it, I swear. They were, however, definitely a little less tangled than usual, and once I took my straightener over to smooth them out, the gloss was very present.

Lolavie Peptide Volume Spray Review

When it comes to styling products, I’m pretty tough on ingredients, but as Aniston’s go, I was impressed. Pea peptides are the star of the show, designed to plump and thicken each individual hair strand with every spritz of the spray, and though it’s hard to tell what’s the work of which product when you use a routine altogether, my hair did have a fullness I don’t always see. Aniston describes this product as one that gives her the “perfect lift and softness, without the sticky or heavy feel” and that’s precisely what I experienced. It’s designed to be activated by heat (and luckily also has heat protectant properties), so you’ll want to take your blow-dryer to your hair once you’ve applied (or seal with a straightener or curler if you’re applying to dry hair like I was).
