The nail trends to know this spring, according to an expert

"Your fingertips deserve a spring awakening too"
Now that winter is almost over, it's time to start prepping for spring, which means refreshing your manicure mood boards on Pinterest.
"It’s time to swap out your moody winter manis for something a little more fun, fresh, and fabulous," Pax Polish founder Emma Paxton tells BEAUTYcrew.
The expert says that spring nail trends in 2025 are all about embracing colour and shine — "[we have] the permission to have fun with our nails again".
"Whether you’re a salon regular or a kitchen table polish queen, there’s something this season to inspire your next [manicure]," she says.
Keep scrolling to discover the nail expert's top nail trend predictions for spring.
1/ Try pastel pops of colour (but with a twist)
"Pastels are a spring staple — no surprises there," says Paxton. But the expert predicts that everyone will be requesting pastel manicures with a twist this season.
"Think: pistachio green with a pearlescent sheen, dusty lavender with holographic flakes, and buttery yellow with a hint of sparkle," she explains.
Anything, but basic, they’re grown-up pastels — like Pax Polish in 'Jane' ($31 from Pax Polish) or 'Gertrude' ($31 from Pax Polish) — with a bit of personality.
2/ Get your five a day
Think: Fruit skin and juicy jelly finishes inspired by watermelon, grapes, and all your favourite stone fruit.
"Glossy, translucent jelly nails are the beauty equivalent of biting into a ripe strawberry on a sunny day — sweet, satisfying, and oh-so-pretty," says Paxton. "The see-through finish gives your nails that glazed look we can’t get enough of."
Try the trend with jelly finish nail polish formulas like Dear.A Shine On Me Nail Colour in 'Fizzy Fruits' ($13.05 from YesStyle), or mix a fruit-inspired shade you have at home with clear polish, to create your own custom translucent shade.
3/ Go green
From guava-inspired cat eye gel nail polish — like this pick from Born Pretty ($14.99 from Born Pretty) — to manicures that match your morning matcha like Apres' 'Tea Leaf' ($27.50 from American Beauty Supply), this season it's all about green.
"It’s unexpected, cool, and surprisingly flattering on every skin tone," Paxton explains.
4/ Don't be scared of colour
"Why settle for one colour when you can have five?," Paxton queries. "Mismatched nails are still going strong in 2025, and this season we’re seeing a rise in coordinated colour blocking."
We're loving multi-coloured French tips, airbrushed rainbow palettes, and ombré effect manicures as the weather warms up.
5/ Chrome is getting a seasonal refresh
"Chrome isn’t going anywhere — it’s just getting a seasonal refresh," the Pax Polish founder explains.
Instead of cool silvers and moody metallics, chrome manicures in spring are soft and sorbet-like.
"Think: Lilac chrome or even iridescent mint," says Paxton.
6/ Delicate nail art is in
According to Paxton, delicate nail art like teeny tiny flowers, pastel dots, or barely-there squiggles are very much the vibe this spring.
"Think of it as nail art for minimalists; subtle, but still fun," she explains. "A single daisy on a nude base? Adorable. Tiny hearts on translucent pink? Swoon. Bonus: These are very DIY-friendly."
