This hair repair ritual left my strands feeling silky soft and it's so easy to use

"I love the way my hair moves and looks"
As a Beauty Editor I have spent an awful lot of time sacrificing my hair, so others may live vicariously through me.
I've gone cherry red in a single salon session, bleached my (then buzzed) hair, and subsequently tested out the newest tech like Dyson's Supersonic Nural on my freshly-grown virgin strands — all to inform the masses about the latest trends and product launches.
So when TYPEBEA's new Bond Repair Range landed on my desk, I was excited to try the hair ritual (obviously to give you all the lowdown), but also because it meant that I would be able to review a product without sacrificing the health of my hair.
In fact, after reading the press release that came with the hair mask, shampoo, conditioner and leave-in treatment, it became evident rather quickly that this might be one of the rare times in my job that I get to try something that actually benefits the way my hair looks and feels.
What makes this stuff so special you might ask? Well, TYPEBEA has gone to great lengths to develop proprietary RDS Bond Technology that reinforces and repairs disulphide bonds. In layman's terms, it's the proverbial glue that keeps your hair cortex together, which can be weakened by heat styling, hair dye, and chemical treatments like perms.
"Hair damage is so prevalent. Almost 60 per cent of women are concerned about hair damage due to heat styling, colouring and chemical treatments, and dry and frizzy hair is the number one concern globally," TYPEBEA co-founder Anna Lahey tells BEAUTYcrew.
"My hair’s been through it all — blow dries, bleach, back-to-back shoots, you name it," Rita Ora, the brand's co-founder confirms. "We built TYPEBEA to grow stronger strands from the roots, and now our new Repair range takes hair health one step further, repairing damage from split ends to inside the hair shaft. It’s our root-to-tip philosophy in action, giving you hair that’s stronger, shinier and truly resilient."
However, developing TYPEBEA's Repair range was no small feat, says Lahey.
"With RDS Bond, we’ve built a unique multi-layered approach to repair — hydrolysed keratin 91 per cent homogenised to human hair to rebuild, powerful antioxidants to defend, and nutritive complexes to add lasting shine," she explains. "It’s a true performance system, designed to transform hair in just one use."
Step one: R·1 Pre-Wash Damage Repair Mask
Designed to be used once a week, this pre-shampoo mask can be applied to damp or dry hair for 20 minutes before you hop in the shower to wash your strands.
It's packed full of bond-building actives that penetrate all three levels of the hair shaft and seal the hair cuticle, ensuring your strands are hydrated, soft, detangled and frizz-free.

Step two: R·2 Damage Repair Shampoo
Shampoo is probably the most straight forward step in any hair ritual and this shampoo is no different in that regard, but it's pH-balanced, creamy formula does more than just cleanse hair of oils and product build-up. It's also hydrating, softening, volumising, and shine-enhancing, plus it minimises the risk of strands snapping when wet.

Step three: R3·Damage Repair Conditioner
The interesting thing about this hair ritual is that it encourages you to use different conditioning products depending on how your hair is behaving. When your strands are reasonably well-behaved, simply apply a generous amount of squalane-infused conditioner to mid-lengths and ends to get a lovely boost of frizz-smoothing moisture.
However if your hair is in need of a bit of extra help, that's where the leave-in treatment comes in...

Step four: R·4 Intense Repair Leave-In Treatment
After shampooing you can skip conditioner, and towel-dry your hair instead, applying one to three pumps of R·4 from root to tip. Leave it in your hair for three minutes, but instead of rinsing, comb and style your hair as per usual.
The RDS Bond complex in the leave-in treatment promises to reduce breakage by 80 per cent, strengthen hair by 54 per cent, as well as smoothing strands for a full head of glossy hair.

The verdict
After shaving my hair off during the pandemic I've been pretty adamant about not dying my hair, so it can look and feel healthy as it grows out.
However, after two years of patience, my strands have finally reached my shoulders, and I've been enjoying being able to style my hair with hot tools again. In fact, I've realised I'm actually quite partial to a weekly at-home blow dry, and my hair has definitely started to look a lot dryer and frizzy as a result.
The solution? Introducing a reparative hair care ritual into my week, and happily TYPEBEA's Bond Repair Range came across my desk when my strands were most in need.
First impressions: I tried the hair mask on dry hair initially, but I think in the future I'll make sure my hair is damp first, just because I have thick hair so I had to use a lot of product to really soak my dry strands.
The shampoo is surprisingly silky and creamy, and after my standard rinse and repeat routine my hair didn't feel 'squeaky' clean, which I really liked.
The conditioner was moisturising without feeling heavy, and on the days that my strands needed a bit more attention the leave-in treatment only took three minutes to use and left my strands feeling silky soft.
After blow drying my hair like I usually do, it's evident that the TYPEBEA Bond Repair Range has seriously smoothed my frizz and hydrated my dry ends. It also feels soft, silky and bouncy, and I love the way my hair moves and looks.
My final verdict: I'll definitely keep using the hair ritual, but I think I might be open to experimenting with how I use each of the products in my routine. Even though it's not recommended, I would love to try applying conditioner and the leave-in treatment on the same day, as my hair is on the thicker side and I think it could use the extra boost of hydration to be perfectly honest.
