This is what our Beauty Editor is adding to cart when MECCA Bourke Street opens

The Melbourne flagship houses three stories worth of wish-listed items

ICYMI, MECCA will be opening it's largest ever brick and mortar store (and the largest beauty destination in the world) in Melbourne this August.

MECCA Bourke Street promises three stories of beauty products, treatments, and unique experiences year round, but during the store's opening weekend there's even more to enjoy at 299 Bourke Street.

On Friday 8th August, Beauty Loop members will have the opportunity to discover MECCAversity education sessions, as well as express beauty services from brands like Charlotte Tilbury, MECCA MAX, NARS, Shiseido, and Augustinus Bader. But it doesn't end there.

Beauty Loop members who've reserved a free ticket (keep an eye on MECCA's Instagram if you missed out on pre-sales) to join the pre-opening festivities the morning of August 8th, can head to Union Lane for a 7am dance party while they wait in line. The first 2,000 customers will have the opportunity to build their own Beauty Loop box, drink warm cups of Love Tea’s Skin Glow blend, and munch on MECCA Madeleine de Proust and Haigh’s chocolate hearts. Plus, from 8:00am there will be giveaways of deluxe samples, before the store officially opens.

MECCA will also be providing guide books for customers complete with a floor plan map of the new store to better navigate all that the Bourke Street location has to offer. On their journey, shoppers can collect stamps in their guidebook in a bid to win a full-size MECCA product. Additionally, customers who book and experience a service will receive a MECCA gold medallion, and unlock a mystery prize from MECCA's prize pool.

As you can probably tell we're very excited about the new MECCA Melbourne flagship store. The beauty retailer exclusively stocks brands like Isamaya, Kylie Cosmetics, Glossier, and Tatcha after all.

In fact, we've even started a shopping list for the day doors officially open — here's what our Beauty Editor is adding to cart.

What does BEAUTYcrew's Beauty Editor actually buy at MECCA?

1/ All my favourite perfumes

Although I might be fond of a no-makeup makeup day, I do not have a 'less is more' attitude when it comes to fragrance — to put it quite plainly, I douse myself in the stuff.

It's the reason why I only venture into MECCA when I absolutely need to, because I will walk out with perfume (or two) if I'm not careful.

The beauty retailer houses my all-time favourite fragrance, Maison Francis Kurkdjian Gentle Fluidity Gold ($336 from MECCA), a comforting creamy vanilla, woody amber, and softly sensual caramel and musk scent — that also just so happens to be one of MECCA's best-sellers.

Then there's the spicy fragrance that lives on my wish list (although, hopefully soon, will permanently be in my possession) — Tsu Lange Yor's Luca ($170 from MECCA). And Le Labo's Thé Matcha 26 ($362 from MECCA); the scent I'm planning on wearing every day of my two week Japan trip in October.

2/ MECCA exclusive makeup products

Whether it's a makeup product that I actually use like Glossier Cloud Paint Gel Cream Bronzer in 'Sail' ($38 from MECCA), or makeup items I've been coveting (read: Isamaya's Skin Enhancing Duo in 'Fig' ($58 from MECCA) and Hourglass' Phantom Volumizing Glossy Balm in 'Desire 120' ($66 from MECCA)). MECCA is home to an alarming amount of properly drool-worthy makeup products, which can only be found in the beauty retailer's stores or online if you live down under.

3/ Skin care worth investing in

As much as I love a budget-friendly Korean skin care item, it's hard to beat the luxurious experience of slathering on premium-quality skin care products from MECCA.

Personally, I'm a self-professed fiend for the skin-softening combination of the Allies of Skin Molecular Silk Amino Hydrating Cleanser ($72 from MECCA), and Drunk Elephant's Protini™ Powerpeptide Resurf Serum ($143 from MECCA). Oh, and I never travel without a toiletry bag full of Emma Lewisham's The Heroes Set ($70 from MECCA).

4/ Bad hair day defence methods

I'm a relatively low maintenance girl when it comes to hair care, but the reason I can make that claim is because I invest in a good hair cut and a small selection of reliable, premium hair products.

I always air dry my hair with a lightweight, leave in product like Dyson's Chitosan™ Pre-Style Cream ($89 from MECCA), and I only ever use a dry shampoo for a volume boost once it's dry (read: Olaplex's No.4D Clean Volume Detox Dry Shampoo ($54 from MECCA), and it can't leave behind a powder-wig-white dusting of dry shampoo either — that's a non-negotiable for me.

However, I have been thinking about levelling up my evening routine by purchasing a silk sleeping mask — Slip's Pure Silk Sleep Mask ($65 from MECCA) — to minimise frizziness while I snooze. So this seems like the perfect excuse to add to cart.

5/ Boujee body care

Anyone who knows me is well aware of the fact that I hoard body wash like my life depends on it. However, unless I truly love a formula that I can't get at the supermarket it's rare that I'll spend more than $20 on a bottle of the stuff. But Kit's Wellness Wash ($38 from MECCA) is the exception to that rule. It's gentle, hydrating and infused with botanical extracts that simultaneously nourish and cleanse. Plus, the body wash's aromatic citrus, green, floral and woody scent doesn't hurt it's case either.

As someone who can't stand the feeling of sticky or greasy body moisturisers, a lightweight body serum like Necessaire's The Body Serum ($84 from MECCA) is a must-have as far as I'm concerned. Enriched with niacinamide, ceramides, and hyaluronic acid, this fast-absorbing selection will help the skin with moisture retention throughout the day, without sacrificing your clothes in the process.

Last, but not least on my MECCA wish list is this Margaret Dabbs London Luxury Manicure & Pedicure Set ($327 from MECCA), because I've been slowly building an at-home nail kit for emergency pedicures. Unfortunately, it's not a job I can delegate to my manicurist, because I get squeamish about people touching my feet. However, this succinct little set contains everything one could ever need to emulate in-salon results, so I don't feel like I'm missing out on a quality pedicure.
