Selena Gomez’s skin care routine is kind of chaotic
As a star of Only Murders In The Building and Emilia Perez, and the founder of Rare Beauty, unsurprisingly Selena Gomez has a hefty collection of beauty products.
Obviously most days she's wearing a full face of her own makeup brand, but what about when she takes it all off? Well, thanks to a series of sleepy skin care routine TikTok videos, and the occasional mirror selfie (that gives fans a prime viewpoint of her vanity), we've managed to discover just that.
As it turns out, the multi-hyphenate's celebrity status has earned her top billing on a number of skin care brand's PR lists, so there is always an impressive mix of luxury, premium and budget-friendly skin care being used in Gomez's daily skin ritual. However, just because she might not be quite as consistent with the products she uses doesn't mean her skin care routine is completely void of method.
In fact, after watching the Rare Beauty founder take off her makeup here, here, here, here, and here, it quickly became apparent that she's happy to use whatever skin care's close at hand, so long as it fits into the seven steps of her routine. Being flexible with the products in her routine seems to make travelling a whole lot easier for her too, because she can easily head to a pharmacy and pick out a few affordable finds if she needs to.
So, what's the secret formula for skin like Selena Gomez? Keep scrolling to find out.
Step one: A makeup-removing cleanser
Whether she's washing off a full face of Rare Beauty in the evening, or cleansing her face with the cult-favourite iS Clinical Cleansing Complex ($77 from All Saint Skin) early in the AM prior to a flight, Gomez never skips cleanser — even when she doesn't have a traditional makeup remover at hand.
Did she slather a couple of hundred dollars worth of La Mer's The Concentrate ($1000 from David Jones) on to her face and use it as an oil cleanser, because that's all she could find at the time? Yes, she did, and we love her for it.
Has she also soaked a beauty blender in Bioderma Sensibio H2O Soothing Micellar Water Cleanser ($22.99 from Oz Hair & Beauty) and used it to gently remove her eye makeup? Yes, she has, and it was without a doubt one of the most inspiring uses of a makeup sponge we've ever seen.

Step two: A soothing face mist
Whether it's a budget-friendly bottle of Evian Eau Mineral Brumisateur Spray ($9.99 from Chemist Warehouse), the classic Mario Badescu Facial Spray With Aloe, Herbs & Rosewater ($24 from MECCA), or Caudalie's luxurious Beauty Elixir ($93 from Sephora), Gomez never goes without a facial mist.
The more soothing, the better, too.
Her favourite's are infused with ingredients like pH-balancing mineral water, radiance-enhancing rosewater, and calming rosemary extract, just to name a few.

Step three: An under eye treatment
Considering Gomez is a beauty mogul who spends most of her time bouncing between film sets, music studios, and red carpets it's understandable that she's dedicated a whole step in her routine to keeping tired eyes at bay.
Usually she'll don a set of under eye masks like the Rare Beauty Find Comfort Hydrating Under Eye Patches ($45 from Sephora) or Peter Thomas Roth's 24K Gold Pure Luxury Lift & Firm Hydra-Gel Eye Patches ($119 from Adore Beauty). But we've also seen her dot Caudalie's Resveratrol-Lift Firming Eye Gel Cream ($87 from Sephora) under her peepers too.

Step four: A balancing toner
To prep her skin for the rest of her routine, Gomez always makes sure to incorporate a balancing toner into her day.
She uses Dermalogica's Multi-Active Toner ($74 from Dermalogica) more often than not — it's enriched with humectants, and a soothing and refreshing blend of botanicals.
But we've also spotted the essential omega fatty acid and antioxidant rich, Paula's Choice Resist Advanced Replenishing Toner (usually $39, now on sale for $31.20 from Paula's Choice), on her TikTok too.

Step five: A serum infused with powerful actives
Gomez usually tries to incorporate two types of serums into her routine. First, she'll use a potent serum with lots of actives in it, and then she'll layer a more hydrating formula over the top.
When she's at home she'll use Dermalogica's Smart Response Serum ($246 from Dermalogica) and Dynamic Skin Retinol Serum ($157 from Dermalogica), but she's also happily used Neutrogena's Bright Boost Illuminating Face Serum ($31.39 from Chemist Warehouse) for a week, while on the road.
After taking a closer look at the Inkey list's of these Gomez-approved products, it's fairly obvious that she's a big fan of potent brightening and skin tone-evening ingredients like retinol, antioxidants, and turmeric extract.

Step six: A hydrating serum or oil
As we mentioned, Gomez loves to layer a hydrating formula over the first serum in her routine.
Her absolute favourite is Tatcha's The Dewy Serum ($156 from MECCA), which claims to lock in moisture, and plump and smooth skin.
But she'll also dabble with more luxurious formulas like La Mer's The Renewal Oil ($420 from David Jones), which is infused with the brand's signature Miracle Broth, as well as sea-sourced nutrients that target the skin's hydration, firmness, and radiance.

Step seven: A nourishing face cream
The final step in Gomez's skin care routine is a nourishing face cream, and she's usually reaching for a tub of Tatcha's The Water Cream ($126 from MECCA).
Though she's not afraid to slather a sizeable serving of Laneige's Radian C Cream ($52 from Adore Beauty) or La Mer's Creme De La Mer ($362 from David Jones) all over her face too.
To the untrained eye all of these products may seem like they do very different things, however let us assure you they all wear beautifully under makeup, which is obviously an important requirement for the founder of one of the biggest makeup brands in the world.
